Biography

Contemporary Christian music artist Ross Berkal
Composer/pianist/bassist Ross Berkal, a native of Massachusetts, showed an early interest in music and began composing and playing the electric bass while still a teen. He later studied piano performance and music composition with faculty members of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 1991, he relocated to New York and shortly thereafter founded the alternative rock project Dahlia, known for its inventive use of bass guitar as a principal voice. In 2001, he began work in liturgical music and two years later was baptized into the Catholic faith. Amid upheaval in his personal life during 2003 he composed the fifteen contemporary Christian songs that became the basis for his debut recording Songs That Jesus Taught Me.  He currently resides in San Diego, California.
